There are at least two ways to say \"beautiful\" in Cantonese:<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

    \n
  1. \u975a ( colloquial;  means good-looking  as in \u9753\u76f8 pretty photos; high quality or high class as in \u9753\u8f66 - good cars such as Lamborghini  or <\/em>Porsche<\/em> ) <\/li>\n
  2. \u7f8e\u9e97 (\u7f8e\u4e3d)  (beautiful, not just pretty; formal;  sometimes shortened to  just \u7f8e.   so \u7f8e\u56fd can mean beautiful country)<\/li>\n
  3. \u597d\u597d\u7747  (very good looking )<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Examples:<\/p>\n

    1. You are so beautiful!   \u4f60\u597d\u9753\uff01<\/p>\n

    2. I don't need those beautiful lies!  \u6211\u5514\u9700\u8981\u7f8e\u4e3d\u5605\u8c0e\u8a00\u3002
    \nNote: tell a lie = \u8bb2\u5927\u8bdd (colloquial.    lie = \u5927\u8bdd  literately mean \"big talk\" ).    \u8c0e\u8a00 means \"lie(s)\" and it's very formal.
    \nHowever, we do use \u7f8e\u4e3d\u7684(or \u5605 )\u8c0e\u8a00 is a set phrase or idiomatic phrase  for \"beautiful lies\".<\/p>\n

    3. \u4f60\u79cd\u5605\u82b1\u597d\u9753\u554a\uff01  The flowers you are planting are very beautiful (pretty)!<\/p>\n

    4. The skirt you are wearing is pretty good looking.  \u59b3\u7740\u7d27\u5605\u6761\u88d9\u90fd\u51e0\u9753\u558e<\/a>  nei5<\/sup> zoek6<\/sup> gan2<\/sup> ge3<\/sup> tiu4<\/sup> kwan4<\/sup> dou1<\/sup> gei2<\/sup> leng3<\/sup> wo3<\/sup><\/p>\n
